Yuri Cavero is a Ph.D. student at Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, Department of Health Prevention in Lima, Peru. His research evaluates Peru’s intercultural health policy, which seeks to reduce health inequities by promoting culturally relevant care and integrating traditional and biomedical medicine for Indigenous, Afro-descendant, and diverse groups.

Yuri uses conjoint analysis to identify which traditional birthing methods that women in Peru's Amazon basin prefer in public health centers. His work aims to advise policymakers on improving culturally appropriate maternity care and reducing maternal mortality among indigenous women, with an active community participation approach within the One Health framework.
